A contractor, Dave owned  D. R. Zimmerman and Sons
for more than 35 years. A business that he was proud of and a legacy that will live on. The knowledge that he taught his sons and employees brings pride to the neighborhood and  his accomplishments.
He formerly worked as an operating engineer for General Electric Co. He served as assistant building inspector and supervisor of housing for the City of Erie.
David was also an officer with the Erie Redevelopment Authority. He graduated from GE's apprentice program.
He served as president of the Bear Bottom Lodge Rode and Gun Club. Dave was an Eagle Scout and a former Scout master with Troop 132.  Hw was a member of the Society of Holy Trinity, The Siebenbuerger, Ludlow Sportsman and Moniunszko clubs. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with wood.

Friends and family met to say goodbye at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home on Sassafras Street and then joined others at the Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery for burial.
He was very proud of his camp "Bear Bottom Lodge" which he built with the help of his sons and friends. Dave spent a lot of time there and had great parties.  Dave was a big fan of John Wayne.

The John Edward Appreciation Pin
In Appreciation of our loved ones. Although we miss Dave, we know that when our time on this earth is done, we will see him again. Through this belief and this knowledge that he is watching over us, we will continue his work.  Family and friends are welcomed to email their memories and photos for inclusion on  this Memorial.  Jeff Kirik wrote about Dave and his camp. drzremembered.htm
