John Montroy
Listen to 500 miles

The Lord called John home on Monday, March 12, 2007 while at Hamot Medical Center.  The cancer that plagued his earthly body would pain him no more.
John  was born in Erie on May 4, 1950, son of John and Edith Montroy, Sr. of Erie.
He was employed with General Electric Company for 36 years and was a member of the U. E. Local #506, the Sunflower Club and the South Erie Turners.
John loved to travel, walk and visit Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Canada at the Niagara Falls. He also enjoyed reading, particularly at the Library and Barnes and Nobles and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Darlene Smith Montroy; four children, Michael Montroy of N.C., John Montroy and girlfriend Jenna Darr, Stephanie Montroy and fiancÚ Sam Morris and Debra Montroy all of Erie; two sisters, Kathy Firster and fiancÚ Suad Skobalj of Erie and Nancy and Ken Hartsfield of Colo.; three brothers, David, Tracy and Thomas Montroy, all of Erie; three grandchildren, Tyler and Braden Montroy and Jordyn Darr; many nieces and nephews.

John was laid to rest at  Erie County Memorial Gardens.

Email your Comments  and I will post them here.

Just learning of John passing from his sister Kathy. I created this memorial for a good friend's brother.  I knew John and his family growing up. Kathy was one of my bests friends and I still think of her has one, although we don't see much of each other. She told me his funeral was packed, that a lot of people came to pay  their respects. I know John was well liked and respected. I welcome him into our members list and invite anyone to send photos and memories and I will post them here.

Darlene and Family,
I was so heartbroken to read about John's passing. I just saw and spoke to him a couple weeks ago.
He was A wonderful man , with a big heart.
Our family's grew up together and he will be sadly missed. I thank god him and his wife Darlene came back into my life the past three years, I seen them at the store, or at the American Legion and got to spend time talking to them and their lovely grandchild. John was very special friend.
Darlene I will be here if you need a friend ,or someone to talk too. May god bless you and your family.
My Prayer's and thought's are with you all.

My beloved John, Can't be you've been gone this long, feels like yesterday we last spoke. I miss our philosophical conversations.
Gabriel, one of your beautiful grandchildren whom you didn't get to meet was in his mommy's womb at your funeral, has gotten to know
of his papa thru stories told by people who love you.
You're presence is missed.

Happy travels my friend.
