Dick, Don, June and Kenny,

My Mother, Dona, and I convey our deepest sympathies to your family on the loss of Marge. As lifelong neighbors we mourn with you. Your home, as Jane stated, was the neighborhood hub for the children on our block, (and beyond). Though I have lived away from Erie for these 38 years, my memories will always find their way to your house and backyard.
Marge and Dick were surrogate shepards to us all.
I proffer condolences on behalf of the Anderson family. Know that we think of you in your time of grief.

The memories of my childhood center on the neighbors between Sunset Blvd and Parade Blvd. This was my world spending much of my time at the Spaeder house with June and my twin sister Jean. We would ice skate in June's backyard during the winter thanks to her dad flooding the backyard for that purpose. We would go to Wattsburg to a swimming hole and have a picnic supper lovingly put together by her mom. This was the house the kids would come to to play. This is the house where life lessons would be learned. This is the house that was filled with love, faith in God, and the belief in nurturing children to be the best that they could be and more.

June, your mom was one of the kindest mom's in the neighborhood. She definitely had patience and the look on her face always showed how proud she was of her children and how much she loved your dad. They really were meant to be together since the day they were born.

Please know I will always keep the memory of your mom in my heart. She was an extraordinary woman and she will be missed.

Please know I would be there for the service if I could. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your dad and brothers.

I fondly recall "Mrs. Spaeder" as June's Mom back in the 1960's when I visited her home as a teenager. She always treated me with great respect, which was not easy I am certain, for I was a typical teenage boy who did not always treat parents with the respect they deserved. But Mrs. Spaeder would coerce me into her kitchen and I would help her with the dishes while she shared her opinions about life, God, and how I should face my life. I appreciated her kindness and never expressed that thanks until now. Perhaps it is not too late, because she is probably receiving this message in a relay from those angels she referenced.
