Rosemarie Margot Janicke

August 6, 1935 - February 7, 2009

Rosemarie Margot Janicke of Erie, died at her home, Saturday evening, February 7, 2009, surrounded by family.
She was raised by her parents, Walter and Marie Nitze Janicke, in Germany.
She met Charles Carpenter in Berlin and married November 13, 1953. He brought her home to Erie where they raised a family of five.
She loved to travel, frequently visiting Germany as well as Russia, China, Hawaii and Mexico.
Rosemarie returned to school receiving a Bachelors of Art in German from Utah State University in 1983.
She attended Nursing School in Provo Utah and graduated as a LPN in 1985. She worked as a LPN in Utah, Nevada, Arizona and Washington.
She returned to Erie after retirement in 2003, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was very active at the YMCA’s Silver Sneakers and the German Club.
She is survived by her siblings: Karen Schroeder and Gerhard Janicke of German. Her children, Marylyn and Dan Rawlins of Shelton, Wash., Donald Carpenter,
Barbara Carpenter, Robert and Janice Carpenter of Erie, Pa., David and Kathy Carpenter of Reno, Nev. Ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
Friends and family gathered to celebrate her life at the Henderson, United Methodist Church, 2004 Camphausen Road on February 14th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.
